Zeal Zine is a collaborative project conceived at the start of the COVID pandemic by my friend Andrew Hochradel, centered around a theme that resonated deeply with every artist involved: community.
My piece is packed with symbolism; each element directly references the different communities that shaped who I am today, paying tribute to both my punk-rock roots and my Hispanic heritage. All profits were donated to Project for Public Spaces (PPS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people create and sustain public spaces that foster strong communities.
The full artist roster includes: Kelli Ayotte, Ethan Silva, Victor Davila, Patrick Mahoney, Caleb Bol, Steph Salileng, Darold Pinnock, Emily Poulin, Andrew Hochradel, Alex Mera, Shauna Lynn Panczyszyn, Jordan Ayotte, Doc Reed, and Dylan Menges.
I have been self-releasing music as a solo artist under the moniker Zeroaddone for a few years now. Initially it was just a way to stay active as a musician and put my material out there, but over time it became an expansive art project centered around music, but spanning brand identity work, animation, web design and digital art.
Society is in a state of collapse. We are being torn apart by the banality of modern life, the rampant political extremism that preys on us, the internal demons that haunt us, and the sickening embrace of lunacy as the only source of truth.
Part I: The Unraveling is the first of three concept EPs inspired by that collective undoing of society: the beginning of the COVID pandemic, and the persistent state of decay that has followed it.
Each song is accompanied by a visualizer illustrating the inspiration behind it, and a website was built to finalize the vision behind the release.
